There are no longer 'dancers', the possessed.
The cleavage of men into actor and spectators
is the central fact of our time. We are obsessed
with heroes who live for us and whom we punish.
If all the radios and televisions were deprived
of their sources of power, all books and paintings
burned tomorrow, all shows and cinemas closed,
all the arts of vicarious existence...
We are content with the 'given' in sensation's
quest. We have been metamorphosised from a mad
body dancing on hillsides to a pair of eyes
staring in the dark.

OK, am I totally out of my mind, or did you once post a concert of Nusrat's from February of 1988? I want to point a friend at it, but I can't for the life of me find it on your site - is it here???

Great performance
Indeed, this is probably my favorite Nusrat. Do you happen to know where this was recorded? I know he was on tour in France in about March of 1988 (the Ocora Records Nusrat Vols. 3-5 were recorded in Paris then).
I recorded it from a Dutch radiobroadcast that year.
Location is probably Amsterdam or Utrecht. All ink has faded from the cassette, but the music is fantastic!
Together with BM-Jogkauns (post Feb.12, 2007) these are my favorites.
